USAID is helping water service providers such as the Legazpi City Water District (LCWD) shift to e-payment for billing and collection services. As part of an ongoing assistance, USAID facilitated a follow-through meeting between LCWD and two of the country’s major digital payment service providers PayMaya and ECPay/GCash on August 12, 2020 to discuss the services and requirements of both companies. PayMaya discussed in detail their phase-by-phase program in adopting the company’s electronic payment services including the necessary data and requirements from LCWD to develop the proposal. Meanwhile, ECPay/Gcash presented the process of activating GCash payments which will allow consumers to settle their bills through the GCash mobile wallet app. Both companies require a resolution of approval from the water district’s Board of Directors to formally commence with the adoption. The LCWD committed to secure the resolution and comply with other documentary requirements so it can launch the e-payment services during the water district’s anniversary on October 1, 2020.
