The Legazpi City Water District, in its continuous commitment to fostering a Violence Against Women (VAW)-free Philippines, actively supports the 18-day campaign to end violence against women, spanning from November 25 to December 12, 2023. Through a series of purposeful activities, the agency aims to achieve the campaign’s objectives and raise awareness about this critical issue.

As part of its initiatives, LCWD conducted a seminar on VAW laws, featuring Atty. Sarah Mae C. Baylon as a distinguished speaker to elaborate on Republic Act 9262. Additionally, a thought-provoking film screening was organized to illuminate the importance of women’s rights and violence prevention.

Throughout the 18-day campaign period, LCWD employees were encouraged to wear orange shirts every Monday, symbolizing the agency’s collective stand against gender-based violence. Furthermore, each department actively participated in a poster and slogan making contest, promoting creativity and engagement in the campaign.

These impactful activities were spearheaded by LCWD’s Gender and Development Committee, under the leadership of General Manager Jesus Enrico Moises B. Salazar. By uniting in these endeavors, the agency believes in the collective ability to address and eradicate this social issue, thereby creating a secure and nurturing environment for Filipino women.
