LCWD Celebrates 2023 National Women’s Month with Engaging Activities and Empowering Initiatives

In honor of Women’s Month, the Legazpi City Water District held a series of vibrant and meaningful activities to celebrate the invaluable contributions of women in the workplace and society. The month-long celebration, which took place in March 2023, included events designed to promote gender equality, empower women, and create an inclusive environment for all employees. The festivities kicked off with the launch of #PurpleWednesday, where employees were encouraged to wear purple shirts to express solidarity and raise awareness about women’s issues. This initiative was met with enthusiasm, as staff members embraced the opportunity to show support for women’s rights and gender equality, making the office a sea of purple throughout the month.

A key highlight of the celebration was the creative and interactive GAD Corner (Gender and Development Corner), which was set up in the office lobby. The corner featured inspirational quotes, informative posters, and empowering messages celebrating women’s achievements, as well as providing valuable resources on gender-related topics. The space served as a reminder of the importance of gender equality in the workplace and beyond.
Adding a dash of creativity to the month’s events, the Photo Collage Contest titled “Mag-Ogma Para Kay Juana” invited employees to showcase the celebration in terms of decorations or “fiestas”. The contest allowed participants to channel their creativity while reflecting on the significance of honoring women. All departments were declared winners as each entry embodied the celebration of women and as they work to complete the tasks, sparking important conversations on gender issues and fostering a sense of pride in women’s contribution to the society.

In line with the office’s commitment to inclusivity, special giveaways were distributed to both employees and consumers throughout the month. These thoughtful gifts ranged from personalized items to vouchers, symbolizing the office’s appreciation for the hard work and dedication of its female staff and customers.

The activities organized for Women’s Month were a resounding success, leaving a lasting impact on the office community. The celebration not only highlighted the significance of women’s contributions but also reinforced the commitment to creating a workplace that promotes equality and respect for all. “As we celebrate the National Women’s Month, let this office, and the LCWD GAD Committee, be the beacon of hope that will eventually bridge the gender gap, the gender equality, and full empowerment of women,” said General Manager Jesus Enrico Moises B. Salazar.
The Legazpi City Water District is proud to continue its efforts to create a more inclusive and empowering environment for all employees, with a focus on gender equality and respect.
Previous Years’ National Women’s Month Celebration:

LCWD joins the 2022 National Women’s Month Celebration. This year’s celebration aims to highlight the gains achieved for women and girls, assess actions towards gender equality, and look forward to steps that must be taken to ensure progress in empowering women. It is an opportune time to give Juanas the power to lay down the blueprint for future leaders, in terms of essential gender issues that demand immediate attention and solution. This Women’s Month, Juanas take center stage – standing up for their rights, challenging stereotypes, breaking barriers, and serving as pioneers of change. This year, the nation recognizes women’s valuable role in the society and proves that inclusive and sustainable development is only possible when gender equality becomes obtainable.
