On February 14, 2024, the Legazpi City Water District joined hands with the City Government of Legazpi, headed by Mayor Geraldine B. Rosal, to commemorate the annual Legazpi City Arbor Day—a dedicated occasion for the collective effort of tree planting. This significant event aligns with the Agency’s steadfast commitment to environmental protection, with a particular emphasis on safeguarding vital water sources.
The pressing issue of declining water sources, accelerated by neglect and activities such as deforestation and quarrying, underscores the urgency of initiatives like Arbor Day. These harmful practices not only deplete water reservoirs at an alarming rate but also pose a severe threat to biodiversity. By fostering the planting of trees, we take a proactive step towards restoring habitats and preserving ecosystems.
Arbor Day serves as a strategic response to contemporary environmental challenges, recognizing the important role that trees play in fostering a cleaner, healthier environment. The Legazpi City Water District ardently champions environmental protection as a crucial measure to ensure the well-being of future generations, safeguarding their fundamental right to access clean and sufficient water.
